Transfer expert provides Cristiano Ronaldo future update

A fresh update on the future of Cristiano Ronaldo has been provided on Sunday.

Over the last few weeks, it has been made clear that Cristiano Ronaldo is eyeing a Manchester United exit.

The Red Devils’ failure to secure Champions League football last season, coupled with the club’s floundering in the transfer market, is said to have led to Ronaldo wanting to leave Old Trafford.

The striker did not return for pre-season training when he was expected to, and did not travel with the rest of United’s squad for their US tour.

This leaves the Manchester giants in a bit of a sticky situation, as they currently only have one other senior central striker, Anthony Martial, on their books.

Not only that, but if CR7 leaves, United do not appear to be in the market for a replacement, suggesting that they may head into 2022/23 with just one striker.

Now, as mentioned above, an update on Ronaldo’s future has emerged via Fabrizio Romano.

It is not great news for United though, with the club still waiting on Ronaldo for answers:

“There is nothing going on with Sporting Lisbon – this story was a fake news. The situation has remained essentially the same for the last 20 days: Cristiano wants to leave, Erik ten Hag waits to have a conversation with him to try to change his mind,” Romano wrote.

“Manchester United are waiting for answers from Cristiano to understand when he can return to training, but Jorge Mendes keeps working on solutions: Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have been approached but there are no evolutions yet.”

And with the Premier League season now less than two weeks away, it does look as though Man United will have to start the campaign with one striker.
